Hi all!
A couple things...
First, the Hallwalls project is a no go. After talking with Carolyn again I found out they are just not at the stage yet where they are ready to set up their digital library. They have several more steps to go through before they can do that, including preserving their media materials before they can even start digitizing and doing streaming video clips of them. They are also planning a total website redesign and incorporating a digital archive into that. They won't be ready for this until later in the spring and we may already be done with the semester by then. So... perhaps the Canisius project will work out, or the Holocaust one. According to the discussion board there are two other people currently interested in that - Joe and Christine. Or, something else may come up.
Second, in the Team Project description Dr. Wang says to use open source software, but in the first class he said we are not restricted to that. I think he recommends it though because it's freely and easily available. But if we go with Canisius it would probably be ideal to use what they've already got, especially since we are encouraged to work with actual libraries and their existing collections. It wouldn't make sense to have to use open source software if that's not what Canisius has and/or wants. I guess depending on what project we decide to do, we should double check with Dr. Wang before moving forward.
Okay, that's all for now. See you all on Thursday... Lynn
